Access & Safety First
Most skylights sit 8–15 feet above floor level. We use professional-grade scaffolding or articulating ladders rated for overhead work — never step stools or improvised platforms. For vaulted ceilings above 15 feet, we bring sectional scaffolding that distributes weight safely across the floor.

Wet Application on Angled Glass
On vertical windows, gravity helps hold film in place during positioning. On skylights, gravity pulls the film away from the glass. Our installers work in sections, using specialized squeegees designed for overhead strokes to push solution and air bubbles out before the film releases from the glass surface.

Thermal Stress Assessment
Not all skylight glass can accept every film type. Older double-pane skylights with factory-tinted glass may experience thermal stress if a high-absorption film is applied, potentially cracking the glass or breaking the insulated seal. We check glass type, manufacturer specs, and existing coatings before recommending any film.

Cure Time Is Longer on Skylights
Standard vertical window film cures in 15–30 days in Houston humidity. Skylight tinting, due to reduced airflow around overhead glass, can take 30–45 days to fully cure. Minor haziness or small water pockets during this period are normal and clear completely as moisture evaporates through the film.
