Free On-Site Privacy Assessment
Our technician measures window dimensions, identifies glass type (single-pane, dual-pane, tempered, Low-E coated), checks the window seal condition, and assesses the specific privacy issue — sightlines from street, neighbors, or elevated positions. We photograph exterior and interior views. Critical because some privacy films are not compatible with certain glass types: applying reflective film to dual-pane Low-E can cause thermal stress fractures.

Film Selection & Custom Cutting
We recommend 1–2 privacy film options from our 3M, XPEL, and LLumar inventory. Once approved, we custom-cut each piece to your exact window dimensions in our shop — not on-site. Pre-cutting in a controlled environment ensures clean edges and reduces waste. For unusually large windows (60+ inches wide), we may need to seam two pieces — discussed before installation.

Surface Preparation
We protect surrounding surfaces (sills, frames, flooring) with drop cloths and painter's tape. Each window is cleaned with a professional-grade glass prep solution that removes oils, residue, and microscopic debris that cause bubbles. We scrape the glass with a razor blade to remove paint specks or mineral deposits invisible to the eye. In Houston's humid environment this prep step takes longer — rushing it causes adhesion failure within months.

Wet Application & Positioning
Privacy film is applied wet — a custom soapy solution between glass and film allows us to slide the film into perfect position before squeegee-bonding. Solution composition matters: too much soap and the film won't bond, too little and it grabs before we can align it. We use a calibrated solution developed over 15 years of Houston installations. Once positioned, we squeegee from center outward in overlapping passes.

Edge Sealing & Inspection
We trim the film 1/16" from the window edge — this gap is intentional. It allows moisture to escape during the curing period and prevents peeling. Each window is inspected under direct light for bubbles, creases, or debris inclusions. Any imperfection is corrected immediately — once privacy film begins to cure, corrections require full removal and re-application.

Curing Period
Full adhesion takes 15–30 days in Houston humidity. During this period, slight haziness, small water pockets, and a "milky" appearance are normal — these clear completely as moisture evaporates through the film. Written aftercare instructions: no cleaning for 30 days, no touching or pressing on the film, keep windows closed for the first 48 hours.
